The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Juronen lands a jab to the head.
Crunch! Juronen slams his shin into Hawk's torso.
A head kick misses from Juronen.
Hawk shoots for a double leg takedown but Juronen sprawls well. He's pushed Hawk's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Matt Hawk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Juronen lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Juronen.
Hawk will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Juronen wants to work for an arm triangle but Hawk is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Juronen connects with a nice short shot to Hawk's temple.

Juronen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hawk is just riding it out for now. Juronen eventually gives up the hold.

Juronen is just content to waste time from the top position. Hawk takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Hawk chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Juronen can pounce on him.

Hawk drops Juronen with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Juronen looks back up at him and smiles so Hawk waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Hawk uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Juronen.
Oh Juronen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hawk closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Juronen to the mat! Juronen manages to get full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Juronen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Hawk avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Juronen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hawk can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Juronen counters with a big head kick but Hawk shrugs it off.
The fighters circling - Hawk throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Juronen plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Juronen lands with a thumping leg kick.
Juronen walks straight into a right hand from Hawk - that's dropped him! Hawk jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Juronen from any more punishment! Juronen complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
