Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raoul Duke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jerry Cristo! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cristo shoots for a double leg takedown but Duke sprawls well. He's pushed Cristo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Cristo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Duke sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cristo somewhat. Cristo shoots in for a double leg but Duke sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Raoul Duke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerry Cristo. Cristo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Duke working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Cristo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Duke lands a couple of digs. Cristo wants to stand up but Duke is controlling him. Duke stays in close to Cristo's body and controls the position. Duke pushing down on Cristo's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Cristo taking some punishment here, with Duke in his half guard. Cristo has hold of Duke's hands but Duke slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Nice strikes from Duke there. Duke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Duke works his foot free and advances to mount. You get the feeling that Cristo really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Cristo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duke is landing with some decent strikes but Cristo is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Duke scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Duke lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Duke really is a fat lump. Duke working the ground and pound effectively.
Cristo is rocked! Duke fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Cristo is still in real trouble! Can Duke finish him? Duke postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Cristo badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Duke around the waist but Duke pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Duke is the winner by TKO! Duke jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Raoul Duke!
