The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bonix lands with an overhand left.
Bonix misses with the combination.
Mercer shoots in but no luck this time.
Brook Bonix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mercer shoots in for a takedown but Bonix shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bonix throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Mercer tries for a takedown but Bonix sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Bonix will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Bonix connects with a single shot there.
Bonix lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Mercer is trying desperately to land a takedown but Bonix is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Mercer.
Mercer takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
