Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Carpenter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mielikki Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Carpenter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mielikki Frost!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpenter tries a head kick but it misses.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Carpenter.

Carpenter scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Carpenter is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Frost doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Carpenter.
Frost throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Frost has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Frost is trying to get back to full guard.
Frost has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carpenter is working away from the top position though.
Frost moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Frost has his foot on Carpenter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carpenter works his way back into a safe position though.
Frost is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Carpenter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Frost doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Frost manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Frost is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Carpenter is looking for a triangle but Frost pushes his legs off easily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Carpenter throws the kick towards the body but Frost avoids it.
Carpenter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Frost pinned against the cage. Frost gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Carpenter shoots in for a takedown but Frost shows good takedown defense.
Carpenter throws a sloppy head kick and Frost moves out of range easily.
Carpenter throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Carpenter's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Carpenter duly obliges.

Carpenter instigates a clinch.
Carpenter jumps guard but Frost stands there with Carpenter around his waist. Carpenter gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Carpenter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Frost has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Carpenter is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Carpenter has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Frost uses from the top position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carpenter is on top in guard.

Frost throws his legs up looking for a submission but Carpenter uses it to pass to side control.

Frost manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carpenter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Frost swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mielikki Frost will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Carpenter.
Carpenter shoots in but Frost avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Carpenter shoots in looking for a takedown. Frost tries to sprawl out of it but Carpenter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Frost manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Carpenter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carpenter stuffs the takedown.
Carpenter tries to clinch but Frost moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The crowd cheers as Carpenter lands an impressive looking overhand right. Frost doesn't seem phased though.

Frost drops back, looking for a kneebar! Carpenter looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Carpenter looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Carpenter!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Carpenter tries to advance to mount but Frost denies him.
Carpenter is looking to take a break and control but Frost is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Frost tries to move to mount but Carpenter blocks the move with his legs.

Frost throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Carpenter manages to get back to half guard.
Carpenter makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Carpenter.

Frost tries to reverse the position but Carpenter maintains control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mielikki Frost showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Carpenter shoots and misses

Frost drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Frost jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Carpenter is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Carpenter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Frost on the ground.

Frost looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Frost gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Carpenter darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
