The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

It looks like Rocky Gracie has been cut.
Leaf misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gracie dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Leaf. That did some damage!
Leaf misses with a series of wild punches.
Gracie walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Ryan Leaf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie defending well as Leaf loads up on a big left hand.
Gracie lands with a thumping leg kick.
Gracie is looking to slow Leaf down with leg kicks.

Gracie feints and then cracks Leaf's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Leaf down.
Gracie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Good leg kick by Gracie there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Ryan Leaf is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Leaf squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Leaf is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Gracie.
Leaf tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gracie swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Leaf misses with a double jab
and Gracie makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Gracie throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Leaf's head.
Leaf throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Gracie finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Gracie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Leaf.
Leaf tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Gracie counters with a nice kick to the body.
Rocky Gracie is winning the standup battle so far.
Gracie thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Leaf if he has to take too many more of those.

Gracie moves in looking to clinch but Leaf pushes him off.

Gracie keeps the fight on the outside.
Gracie throws a leg kick but Leaf moved away.
A solid leg kick lands there for Gracie.

Leaf takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Gracie throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Gracie looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gracie dodges the punch combination from Leaf.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Gracie crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Leaf - the referee stops the clock and Gracie gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Leaf. Gracie manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Nice combo by Leaf! Oh, that's hurt him - Gracie falls to the canvas and Leaf follows him into side control.

Gracie is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Leaf decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Oh Gracie is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A nice inside leg kick there by Gracie. That's going to slow Leaf down.
Gracie seems to have got his legs back now.
Leaf looks to clinch
and Gracie counters with a good low kick that Leaf was not able to check.
Leaf misses with a hook. Gracie ducked under it nicely.
Leaf's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
A combination from Leaf does no damage.
Leaf tries to clinch but Gracie moves away
and Gracie makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Gracie lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Gracie will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Gracie rushes Leaf and presses him up against the cage.

Gracie throws a leg kick but Leaf checks it.

Leaf fails to land with a series of punches.
Leaf moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Gracie lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

and Gracie counters with a nice leg kick.

Leaf doesn't manage to clinch there - Gracie circles away.
Gracie throws a nice looking combination but Leaf bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A jab-cross combination lands for Leaf and sends Gracie crashing to the mat! Leaf follows him down to the mat - Gracie regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

Gracie is rocked!

Rocky Gracie's cut is getting worse.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Leaf escapes and gets back to his feet.
Gracie circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gracie plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Gracie moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Leaf is rocked!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Gracie! This one is all over!
