Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Kerns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Falaris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kerns comes into the arena with Johnny Cash - Hurt blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Falaris's choice of entrance music: Single Ladies - Brazilian Version. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Kerns!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Falaris!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Bruno Lombardi and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kerns moves out of range of the body kick.
Falaris throws a wild body kick that Kerns sees coming a mile off.
Kerns misses with a straight left.
Kerns moves out of range as Falaris throws a body kick.
Falaris throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Falaris keeps the fight on the outside.
Kerns throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Falaris counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Kerns misses with an attempted mid kick.
Kerns throws a jab when Falaris was well out of range.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kerns crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Falaris - the referee stops the clock and Kerns gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Falaris. Kerns manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Kerns sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Falaris feints and then cracks Kerns's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kerns down.
Kerns ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Falaris moves away.

Kerns shoots in but Falaris avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Falaris counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Falaris goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Falaris is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kerns lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Falaris is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kerns is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Falaris to the mat. Falaris regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Falaris is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kerns is controlling him.
Kerns postures up in Falaris's guard and throws a big left but Falaris blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Falaris really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kerns. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Falaris is looking to stand up but Kerns isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kerns stands and throws Falaris's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Falaris is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Kerns throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Falaris works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Falaris is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kerns scores with a couple of nice shots.
Kerns is pressing down on Falaris's thigh, looking to free his foot. Falaris is holding on for now.

Kerns is looking for a kimura but Falaris is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kerns to get the leverage.

Falaris tries to kick Kerns off but Kerns keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Kerns working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

I think Falaris has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
