Michaels's entrance music is Alice In Chains - Man In The Box. A fine choice. Glen Quagmire has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michaels comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Michaels moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Quagmire connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Michaels lands a jab to Quagmire's midsection.
Quagmire takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Quagmire uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Michaels.

Josh Michaels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Michaels ducks under a wild hook from Quagmire.

Michaels throws a right hand that Quagmire ducks under and follows up with a left that Quagmire also avoids with ease.

It looks like Glen Quagmire has been cut.
Quagmire avoids a punch combination nicely.
Quagmire walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Michaels fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Michaels lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Quagmire backs up against the cage.
Michaels throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Michaels throws a nice looking combination but Quagmire bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Michaels is looking to wear down Quagmire with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Michaels tests Quagmire's chin there with a solid looking shot.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Quagmire takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Good exchange - Michaels coming out on top.
Michaels missing with a left hand there. Quagmire was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

The cut above Glen Quagmire's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Michaels will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Quagmire throws a hook to the side of Michaels's head but Michaels sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Michaels dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Quagmire tries to score with a low kick but Michaels moves his leg out of the way.

Michaels throws a left that rocks Quagmire and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Michaels dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Quagmire regain composure!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Michaels is trying to get an arm triangle but Quagmire is defending well.
Quagmire tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Michaels wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Michaels moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Michaels working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Michaels advances nicely into full mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Michaels is landing with some decent strikes but Quagmire is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Glen Quagmire's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Glen Quagmire's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
