Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Piscasio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and CAIN VALASQUEZ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, CAIN VALASQUEZ!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piscasio tries to close the distance and clinch but VALASQUEZ swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Piscasio fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

VALASQUEZ gets in close and instigates a clinch.

VALASQUEZ pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Piscasio really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

VALASQUEZ bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
VALASQUEZ remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
VALASQUEZ is looking to take a break and control but Piscasio is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Piscasio tries to improve position but can't.

VALASQUEZ tries to advance to mount but can't.
VALASQUEZ scores with a couple of short elbows.
Piscasio tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but VALASQUEZ wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Piscasio tries to control but VALASQUEZ manages to take his back.
VALASQUEZ is riding his opponent, not letting Piscasio buck him off.

VALASQUEZ has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Piscasio has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Piscasio controls VALASQUEZ momentarily but VALASQUEZ frees himself.
Piscasio pulls VALASQUEZ in close to his closed guard and prevents VALASQUEZ from doing any damage or advancing position.
VALASQUEZ trying to control the position from guard on top but Piscasio is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

VALASQUEZ stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Piscasio tries to clinch but fails miserably

and VALASQUEZ decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Piscasio's guard.
Piscasio is adopting a defensive guard.
Piscasio is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Piscasio trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

CAIN VALASQUEZ dominated that round.

VALASQUEZ tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
VALASQUEZ fails to land with a series of punches.

Piscasio looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
VALASQUEZ keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Piscasio not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Piscasio content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
VALASQUEZ is not content to let Piscasio control the position.
Piscasio winds up and cracks VALASQUEZ with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Piscasio is pressing down on VALASQUEZ's thigh, looking to free his foot. VALASQUEZ is holding on for now.
VALASQUEZ is staying active underneath Piscasio, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Piscasio wants to get back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Piscasio tries to clinch but VALASQUEZ is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
VALASQUEZ unloads with some shots from mount but Piscasio bucks and avoids them well.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, VALASQUEZ cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
VALASQUEZ breaks from Piscasio's wrist control and lands an elbow.

VALASQUEZ wants to finish this one by submission but Piscasio is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from VALASQUEZ.
Piscasio tries to hold on but VALASQUEZ pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
VALASQUEZ tries to control but Piscasio wriggling away.
VALASQUEZ punching from mount but Piscasio doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Piscasio is squirming around, avoiding VALASQUEZ's attempts to control the action.

VALASQUEZ is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Piscasio has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Piscasio!
Piscasio postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
VALASQUEZ throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that David Piscasio will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Piscasio gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows VALASQUEZ to score an easy takedown into full guard.
VALASQUEZ forces his way into half guard.
Piscasio has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. VALASQUEZ is working away from the top position though.
Piscasio makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Piscasio.
Piscasio bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in VALASQUEZ's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Piscasio wants to control from the top but VALASQUEZ keeps moving.
Piscasio's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Piscasio wants to stand and escape but instead VALASQUEZ has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Piscasio controls VALASQUEZ momentarily but VALASQUEZ frees himself.

Piscasio has his feet on VALASQUEZ's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

VALASQUEZ is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Piscasio's shoulder. That is not cool.
Piscasio wants to control but VALASQUEZ postures up.
VALASQUEZ is looking to take a break and control but Piscasio is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

CAIN VALASQUEZ comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well VALASQUEZ has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
