The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Putik is looking to clinch but Romeo is avoiding it.

Putik shoots in and bounces Romeo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Putik throws a strike but Romeo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Romeo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Romeo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Putik sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Putik throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Romeo because Putik loaded up on that one.

Putik moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Romeo has worked his arm free - good work by Romeo!
Putik is staying tight to Romeo's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Romeo manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Romeo wants to get back to his feet.
Putik throws a strike but Romeo avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Putik tries to stand but Romeo is controlling from the bottom.

Putik wants to stand and escape but instead Romeo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Romeo drops back looking for a leg! Putik is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Putik manages to kick Romeo off! Romeo jumps back into Putik's guard.
Putik is breathing heavily.

Romeo is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Putik is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Putik has escaped and now he's on top!
Putik loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Putik cracks Romeo with a solid left hand.
Romeo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Putik stops Romeo from standing up.
Putik really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Putik throws and elbow that misses. Romeo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Putik's guard. Nice move by Romeo!

Romeo drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Putik dives on top into guard.
Putik stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Romeo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Romeo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Romeo shoots in but Putik avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Putik fails in his attempt to clinch.
Romeo lands with a nice combination. Putik backs away looking to recover.

and Putik counters with a big head kick but Romeo shrugs it off.

Romeo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Romeo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Romeo is fighting to break Putik's control of his arms but Putik is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Romeo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Putik controls the position for a moment.

Romeo tries for a kimura but Putik is defending well.
Putik knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Romeo on the ground.

Romeo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Putik has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Romeo but great work by Putik.

Romeo has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Putik off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Romeo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Putik avoids it really well and circles away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Romeo.

Romeo is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Putik looks calm but he's in trouble here. Romeo gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Putik is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Romeo lets go of the hold and Putik can pop his arm back in it's socket.
