The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hawkings tries to avoid it but Morris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hawkings to the ground. Hawkings escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Morris scores with a hook.
Hawkings throws a right hand that Morris ducks under and follows up with a left that Morris also avoids with ease.
Hawkings misses with a few strikes there.
Nice shot lands for Morris.
Morris throws a body kick that misses.
Hawkings looks to land a combination but Morris avoids it well.
Hawkings throws a hook but Morris blocks it.
Hawkings throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Morris sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Morris connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hawkings. Hawkings circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Hawkings lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
No joy there for Hawkings, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Morris displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hawkings throws out the jab.

Wes Morris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
