Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Heilman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mister Maki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Heilman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mister Maki!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heilman stuffs the takedown attempt from Maki. Maki gets slowly back to his feet.
Maki throws a head kick but Heilman moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Maki looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Heilman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Maki sprawls well initially but Heilman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Maki tries to roll over but Heilman keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Heilman drops an elbow to the side of Maki's head.
Heilman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Heilman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Maki's head.

Heilman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Heilman is looking for a kimura here.
Heilman scores with a couple of good hammerfists.


Maki is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Heilman seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Maki is still in real trouble! Can Heilman finish him?
Heilman drops an elbow to the side of Maki's head.
Heilman working over Maki with some ground and pound. Maki looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Heilman is trying to control the action in half guard but Maki is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Heilman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Heilman looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Maki trying to control here.
Heilman takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Heilman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Heilman is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Maki has managed to free his arm - good work.
Heilman is breathing heavily.
Still in half guard, Heilman seems content to control.

Heilman landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Heilman lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Maki taking some punishment here, with Heilman in his half guard.
Heilman prevents Maki from improving his position.
Maki seems to have recovered his senses.
Heilman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Heilman throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Maki is staying active underneath Heilman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Maki is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Heilman pulls his head out easily.
Heilman is nestled in close to Maki, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heilman is looking to pass Maki's guard but actually Maki recovers to full guard.
Heilman slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Maki takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Heilman cracks Maki with a big right hand but Maki just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Heilman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maki keeps working.
Maki tries to improve position but can't.
Maki is trying to control Heilman's posture but Heilman avoids it.
Heilman throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Maki is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Heilman off and has taken his back!
I really don't envy Heilman right now.
Maki has Heilman flattened out and is raining down punches.
Heilman is keeping busy.
Heilman takes a big shot to the side of the head.

Heilman won't enjoy being in this position. Maki looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Heilman is tapping - it's over boys! Maki picks up the submission victory!
