The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vlad scores with a hook.
Vlad tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shield paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Shield scores with a jab to the jaw.
Shield misses with a body shot.

Vlad has Shield up against the cage in a clinch.

Shield breaks from the clinch.
Vlad swinging wildly here.
Shield moves out of range as Vlad throws a body kick.

Vlad instigates a clinch.
Vlad tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Shield avoids it.

Vlad breaks the clinch.
Vlad is looking to slow Shield down with leg kicks.
Mocny Vlad seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big right from Shield misses.
Vlad misses with a head kick.
Vlad doesn't manage to clinch there - Shield circles away.
Vlad takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vlad misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vlad slips under a jab.
Vlad moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Shield listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Shield lands a nice shot that snaps Vlad's head back.

Vlad shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shield's guard.
Vlad with a flurry of punches that miss.
Vlad wants to stand but Shield has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Shield utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Vlad won't allow Shield to get back to his feet.
Vlad in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Vlad postures up in Shield's guard and throws a big left but Shield blocks it.

Vlad drops back, looking for a kneebar! Shield looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Shield looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Shield!

Shield decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Shield keeps the fight on the outside.

Vlad decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shield regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Vlad.
Vlad throwing strikes from guard but Shield blocks nicely.
Shield is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vlad throws a strike but Shield rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Vlad is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shield is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Vlad closes the distance and clinches up with Shield, looking for a takedown. Vlad pushes Shield against the cage but Shield circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Shield throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Vlad sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Shield stuffs the takedown attempt from Vlad. Vlad gets slowly back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Vlad looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Shield throws a looping overhand right but Vlad ducks down to avoid it.
Mocny Vlad is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Shield ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vlad moves away.
Shield lands with a nice body punch.
Vlad throws a nice head kick!
Vlad looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Shield throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Vlad.
Shield misses with a jab, cross combination.
Shield lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Vlad backs up against the cage.

It looks like Mocny Vlad has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vlad tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Shield throws a quick inside leg kick.
Vlad fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Shield is out of range.

Shield drops Vlad with a beautiful combination! Vlad stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Shield is looking for the KO!

Vlad is rocked!
Vlad is breathing heavily.
Vlad tries to get into range but Shield steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Vlad! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Shield scores the big KO victory!
