Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Philippe Mexes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Philippe Mexes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dean Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mexes moves into range and clinches up with Anderson.
Anderson is trying to drag Mexes to the mat but Mexes just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Anderson jumps guard but Mexes stands there with Anderson around his waist. Anderson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mexes wants a takedown.
Mexes has Anderson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Anderson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Mexes lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Anderson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mexes gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Philippe Mexes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dean Anderson.
Anderson is pressed up against the cage. Mexes has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Anderson down to the mat. Anderson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Anderson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Mexes moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Anderson passes into half guard.

Mexes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Anderson pulls his head out easily.

Anderson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Mexes has hold of Anderson's hands but Anderson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Anderson works his way into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Mexes is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Anderson has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Mexes on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Anderson looks up at the clock and then as Mexes takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Anderson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

It looks like Philippe Mexes has been cut.
Mexes manages to get back to half guard.

Mexes is pressing down on Anderson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Mexes lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Anderson!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anderson is wriggling around trying to escape.

Mexes is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Anderson is surviving well by controlling Mexes's body position as best he can.
Anderson looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Anderson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Mexes wants to get back to his feet but Anderson is holding on tight.
Anderson is in all sorts of trouble here.

Mexes goes for an armbar but Anderson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Anderson.
Anderson stands up over Mexes, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Mexes working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Anderson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Anderson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mexes is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mexes has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Anderson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mexes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mexes looking for a sweep but Anderson has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Philippe Mexes's cut is getting worse.
Mexes slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Mexes is not content to let Anderson control the position.
Anderson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Mexes slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Anderson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Mexes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Anderson defends well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Anderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mexes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Anderson has managed to get both his arms back between Mexes's legs - danger averted.

Jeez, Philippe Mexes's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Philippe Mexes's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Dean Anderson!
