PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Li Fong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edgar Wizard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Edgar Wizard was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Li Fong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edgar Wizard!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jorge Garcia and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fong dives in and grabs Wizard's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wizard pushes down on Fong's head and hops out.
Fong shoots in but Wizard avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Wizard stuffs the takedown attempt from Fong. Fong gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Li Fong. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fong slaps away a takedown attempt from Wizard, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Wizard shoots in for a takedown but Fong shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Wizard counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Fong working for a triangle but Wizard defends it easily.
Wizard connects with a couple of short punches.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wizard drops back looking for a leg! Fong is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fong manages to kick Wizard off! Wizard jumps back into Fong's guard.
Fong preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wizard throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Fong looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Fong gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Wizard counters with a takedown into side control.
Fong is breathing heavily.

Wizard is working to tighten is grip on Fong's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Fong has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Wizard is really squeezing tight and eventually Fong passes out! Wizard breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
