The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Statham on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Statham blocks a jab.

Statham is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Slice throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Statham throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Slice's waist but Slice gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Statham off to one side.

Slice is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Statham had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Statham stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Slice swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Statham throws a looping overhand right but Slice ducks down to avoid it.
Statham shoots in looking for a takedown. Slice tries to sprawl out of it but Statham keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Slice manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Statham avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Slice tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Statham paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Statham is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Slice is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Slice has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Statham regains guard immediately.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Statham will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Statham throws a low kick, looking for Slice's leg but Slice calmly moves out of range.

Slice clinches up with Statham and pushes him back against the cage.
Statham looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Slice takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Statham sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Slice's guard.
Slice won't allow Statham to pass to mount.
Statham works his foot free and advances to mount.

Statham looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Statham is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Slice to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Slice shrugs it off.
Statham avoids the attempt from Slice to control.
