The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maquez tries a head kick but it misses.
Maquez stuffs the takedown attempt from Tennant. Tennant gets slowly back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Tennant shoots in for a takedown but Maquez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Maquez looks to land a combination but Tennant avoids it well.
Tennant closes this distance looking for a takedown but Maquez circles away.

Maquez gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Maquez wants to get back to his feet but Tennant is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Maquez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Tennant counters with a nice double leg into side control. Maquez won't be happy with that.

Maquez is looking to regain half guard here but Tennant keeps moving and retains side control.

Tennant is working to tighten is grip on Maquez's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Maquez has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Tennant is really squeezing tight and eventually Maquez passes out! Tennant breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
