PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Billy Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conco Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen Ambrosia as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Billy Harrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Conco Jones!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harrison decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Harrison is pressing down on Jones's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jones is holding on for now.
Jones is looking to control Harrison's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jones avoid being mounted?
Harrison not doing much here.
Jones slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Harrison stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Harrison tries to kick Jones off but Jones keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harrison is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Jones tries to pass the half guard into mount. Harrison knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Jones is controlling the pace.
Harrison tries to kick Jones off but Jones keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Harrison is looking to improve his position.
Harrison is trying to control but can't.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Harrison changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jones looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Harrison content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Harrison tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Harrison is breathing heavily.
Jones struggling a bit here.

Jones tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Harrison wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Jones manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Harrison seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jones is trying to stand up here but Harrison is controlling him well.
Harrison wants to stand up but Jones is controlling the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jones is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Harrison pulls his head out easily.

Jones is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Harrison's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Harrison's back!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Harrison is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Jones.
Jones is controlling the position but Harrison somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Jones misses with the combination.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Harrison wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it.
Harrison trying to keep a closed guard but Jones is proving a slippery customer.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Harrison wants to sweep but no luck.
Harrison is looking to stand up but Jones isn't so interested in that idea.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Harrison's guard now.

Jones stands up and waves to Harrison to follow him.
Jones looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

and Harrison holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Harrison lands a nice shot to the body.

Harrison escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Billy Harrison is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jones scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Harrison is pushing Jones's head away, looking to escape. Jones manages to hold on to the position though.

A lull in the action here.
Jones tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Jones trying to control the position but Harrison is working away.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jones circles away from the clinch attempt

and Jones counters with a takedown into side control.
Harrison is pushing Jones's head away, looking to escape. Jones manages to hold on to the position though.

Jones is looking to take a break and control but Harrison is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Harrison wants to control but Jones postures up.

Jones is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Harrison has escaped the position, nice work there.
Harrison trying his best to control but Jones has mounted him.
Harrison is trying desperately to improve position.
Harrison trying desperately to get to his feet.

Harrison somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
Jones avoids a punch combination nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Conco Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Harrison gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Jones wants a takedown but no success here.
Harrison prevents a takedown attempt there.

Harrison breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Harrison rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jones tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Billy Harrison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Conco Jones.

Harrison breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Harrison clinches up with Jones and pushes him back against the cage.
Harrison digs a right hand underneath Jones's ribcage. Jones let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Jones jumps guard but Harrison stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Harrison drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jones gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Harrison landing knees to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones takes an elbow to the temple.
Harrison lands a body punch in the clinch.
Harrison lands a body shot.
Jones lands with a light punch inside.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Harrison takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Harrison digs a right hand into Jones's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Jones's gas tank.
Jones is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Harrison pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Harrison breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Harrison counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Jones is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Jones scrambles and gets back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Harrison paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones.
Jones tries to pull guard but Harrison holds him up against the cage and eventually Jones drops back down to his feet.
Jones can't get the takedown.

Harrison successfully pulls guard.

Harrison pushes Jones off and gets back to his feet.

Harrison looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
It looks like Harrison is going to stand back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones is trying to control but Harrison passes into side control!
Harrison tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jones's legs.
Harrison is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jones is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Harrison stands up and beckons Jones to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Harrison bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Harrison has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Jones throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Jones gets a takedown into half guard.
Harrison is not content to let Jones control the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jones might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Harrison kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

And that's the end of the fight!
Billy Harrison showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Harrison has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
