The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza has a takedown stuffed.
Souza misses with a two punch combination.
Souza looks to score with a jab to the body but Ribeiro is just out of range.
Souza just misses with a punch to the body.
Emilio Souza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Souza slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Ribeiro gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Souza to counter with a crisp jab.
Souza tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ribeiro was well out of range. Poor timing from Souza.

Ribeiro shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Souza's guard.

Ribeiro is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Souza is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Souza has escaped and now he's on top!

Souza is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Souza stands up and waves to Ribeiro to follow him.
Nice uppercut lands for Souza. That snapped Ribeiro's head back.

Ribeiro is rocked!
Souza connects with a superb combination that knocks Ribeiro out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Souza before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Ribeiro!
