PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between jin kazama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Cordoba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). kazama kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is crank that. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Luis Cordoba!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cordoba throws a big shot that misses.
jin kazama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cordoba keeps the fight on the outside.
kazama shoots in for a double leg but Cordoba sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Cordoba drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cordoba controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
kazama wants to sweep here but Cordoba controlling him for the moment.
Cordoba is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

kazama is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Cordoba has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Cordoba!

kazama is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cordoba is just riding it out for now. kazama eventually gives up the hold.

A close round but Luis Cordoba will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
kazama tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
An inside leg kick from Cordoba misses.
Cordoba looks to land a combination but kazama avoids it well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
kazama is letting Cordoba control him for a moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Cordoba thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Cordoba wants to control but kazama is keeping him busy.
Cordoba is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Luis Cordoba showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Cordoba takes a kick to the side of the head.
kazama tries for a takedown but Cordoba circles away easily

and Cordoba counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in kazama's guard now.
Cordoba is looking to advance position but kazama has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

kazama sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Poor strikes thrown by Cordoba there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Cordoba is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. kazama is defending well though. Cordoba let's go of the attempt for now.

I've got Cordoba winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
