The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Bautista as Kirk shoots in.

Kirk shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Kirk drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bautista looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bautista looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bautista!
Kirk is looking for a sweep.
Bautista wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kirk keeps working.

Bautista goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kirk has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bautista but great work by Kirk.
Bautista is breathing heavily.

Kirk tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kirk has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kirk thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kirk has hold of Bautista's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Bautista tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kirk cranks the arm and Bautista screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Bautista, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
