Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mbuku Ashali!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Penny Kimura!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ashali throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kimura.
Ashali pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ashali fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kimura avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ashali has a takedown stuffed.
Kimura clinches with his opponent.
Kimura wants a takedown but no success here.
Kimura tries for a takedown. No joy.
Kimura gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Ashali regains guard.
Ashali wants to stand but Kimura is controlling the position.
Ashali utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kimura won't allow Ashali to get back to his feet.
Kimura content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kimura prevents Ashali from getting back to his feet.
Kimura stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ashali swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ashali keeping moving, preventing Kimura from controlling successfully.
Ashali working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kimura.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ashali closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kimura counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ashali!
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ashali in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Kimura is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ashali to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ashali shrugs it off.
Kimura working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Ashali turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Kimura off and cradles Ashali's limp body as Kimura celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Penny Kimura!
