The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
thompson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nitro as he avoids it easily.

Nitro moves into range and clinches up with thompson.
thompson is trying to maintain a safe position but Nitro gets an underhook and turns thompson into the cage.
Nitro is struggling to control the position.
Nitro jumps guard but thompson stands there with Nitro around his waist. Nitro gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Nitro is trying to break the clinch but thompson is controlling him.
Nitro avoids the elbow strike from thompson, against the cage.
thompson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Nitro has him pressed against the cage.

Nitro pulls guard effortlessly.
Nitro controls thompson momentarily but thompson frees himself.
Nitro is pulling down on thompson's head. It's preventing any offense from thompson, at least for the moment.
thompson wants to stand but Nitro is controlling his posture from full guard.
thompson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's one minute gone in the round.
thompson stops Nitro from standing up.

Nitro throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! thompson escapes and throws Nitro's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Nitro regains half guard there - taking advantage of thompson's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Nitro pushes thompson off looking to stand but thompson dives back in and keeps control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
thompson is keen to just control but Nitro is a slippery customer.
thompson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
thompson tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Nitro.
thompson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Nitro looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Nitro really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
thompson passes to full mount!

thompson is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! thompson extends the arm and Nitro is forced to tap!
