Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Salazar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mario Hammer!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammer lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Hammer throws out a loose jab but Salazar uses good head movement to avoid it.

Hammer throws a jab but it's blocked by Salazar.
Salazar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hammer but Hammer pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hammer takes a swing at Salazar's ribcage but misses.
Hammer throws the left hand but Salazar avoids the punch easily.
Salazar will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Hammer misses with a hook.
The fighters circling - Hammer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Salazar throws a series of punches but Hammer avoids them all with ease.
Hammer throws a left and a right that both miss

and Salazar decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hammer's guard.
Hammer wants to sweep here but Salazar controlling him for the moment.
Salazar looking to sit in guard and control but Hammer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Salazar looking for a guillotine here but Hammer defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Salazar wants to stand up but Hammer is controlling him.
Salazar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Nice defenses there by Salazar.
Hammer swinging wildly here.
Hammer waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Salazar.
Hammer misses with a hook. Salazar ducked under it nicely.
Hammer looks to land a left hand but Salazar moved out of range nicely.
Salazar uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hammer.

Salazar feints and as Hammer raises his hands in defense, Salazar changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Salazar wants to pass the guard but Hammer is keeping the position.

Hammer trying to keep a closed guard but Salazar is proving a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hammer wants to sweep but no luck.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hammer just misses with a punch to the body.

Salazar shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hammer's guard.
Hammer pulls Salazar in close to his closed guard and prevents Salazar from doing any damage or advancing position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hammer can do anything to dispel that myth.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Salazar closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hammer is trying to break the clinch but Salazar has him pressed against the cage.

Hammer breaks the clinch.
Salazar defending well as Hammer loads up on a big left hand.
Salazar on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hammer, as that shot connected.
Hammer throws a jab when Salazar was well out of range.

Hammer misses with a looping left.
A jab from Hammer does it's job there.


Salazar is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hammer lands with a big right hook that stumbles Salazar - he's out on his feet here! Hammer follows up with another monster hook that separates Salazar from consciousness! Salazar falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Hammer stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Mario Hammer!
