PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frank Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshihyro Uno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yoshihyro Uno!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Anthony Taglia and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Uno gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Silva to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Silva thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Silva is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Uno is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Uno has escaped and now he's on top!
Uno wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Uno might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Silva kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Uno defends well.

Uno drops back looking for a leg! Silva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silva manages to kick Uno off! Uno jumps back into Silva's guard.

Uno stands up and waves to Silva to follow him.

Silva changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Uno looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Silva is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Uno knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Uno is working to avoid the ground and pound but Silva connects with a decent elbow.
Silva is looking to take a break and control but Uno is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Silva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Silva wants to pass the guard but Uno is keeping the position.

Uno avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Uno loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Uno controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Uno got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Uno has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.

Silva is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Uno frees his head nicely. Oh but Silva has switched to an armbar! Uno is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
