Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rob Douglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Douglas comes to the cage accompanied by Bounty Killa - Sufferer. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rob Douglas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dave Savage!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Douglas tries to clinch up.
Nice sprawl there from Savage as Douglas shoots in.
Douglas plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Savage shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Douglas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Savage won't be happy with that.
Savage tries to buck Douglas off but Douglas is having none of it.

Douglas wants to work for an arm triangle but Savage is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Douglas is looking for a kimura but Savage is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Douglas to get the leverage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Savage postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Douglas is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Savage, into his guard.

Savage isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Douglas stacks Savage on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Douglas!

Douglas decides to stand back up. Douglas steps back and let's Savage get back to his feet.

Douglas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Savage, who protects the arm well.
Savage is trying to control Douglas's posture but Douglas avoids it.
Savage is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Savage has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Savage drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Douglas manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Savage has Douglas in his guard.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Savage cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

I would just about give that final round to Dave Savage.
Well Douglas has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
