PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Billy Gray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Cabresco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Cabresco's choice of entrance music: FEEL IT. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Billy Gray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fernando Cabresco!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cabresco will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gray lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Cabresco clinches up against the cage.
Cabresco changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gray fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gray looks to land a combination. Cabresco sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Gray scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Gray stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gray wants it to stay on the feet.

Cabresco stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gray swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gray is pressed up against the cage. Cabresco has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gray down to the mat. Gray avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Gray counters with a three punch combo that has Cabresco backing up. Cabresco nods at Gray to acknowledge the strikes.

The fighters circling - Cabresco throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Gray really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Gray throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cabresco stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Billy Gray seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gray misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Cabresco has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cabresco.

That was a close round but I would say that Billy Gray will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Gray stalks Cabresco and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cabresco's face. Cabresco staggers backwards, shaken.
Gray swinging wildly here.
Gray's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Gray duly obliges.
Gray tries to bum rush Cabresco with a series of wild strikes but Cabresco uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gray swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cabresco takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Gray fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gray tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cabresco fails to land the takedown.

Cabresco is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Cabresco takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Gray pushes Cabresco off looking to stand but Cabresco dives back in and keeps control.

Cabresco thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Gray looks like he's trying to stand up.
Cabresco is looking to take a break and control but Gray is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cabresco throws a right hand that Gray ducks under and follows up with a left that Gray also avoids with ease.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Gray gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cabresco to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Gray seems a little lost for a moment, as Cabresco dominates the positioning.

Gray is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Cabresco is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gray tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Cabresco is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gray can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Gray knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cabresco on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cabresco throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Gray because Cabresco loaded up on that one.
Cabresco throws some wild stikes that Gray manages to avoid easily.
Gray holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Cabresco tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cabresco tries to control but Gray wriggling away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fernando Cabresco comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Cabresco has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
