PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Spazzy Magee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ali Raid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ali Raid will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Spazzy Magee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ali Raid!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raid stuffs the takedown attempt from Magee. Magee gets slowly back to his feet.
Magee fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Raid is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Magee.
Magee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Raid's waist but Raid gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Magee off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Spazzy Magee. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Magee changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Raid tries to avoid it but Magee manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Raid to the ground. Raid escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Raid throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Magee shoots in for a takedown but Raid shows good takedown defense.

Magee moves away from the strike by Raid.

Magee ducks under a wild hook from Raid.
Magee on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Raid misses with an uppercut.
Raid throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Magee sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Magee feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Raid wants to sweep here but Magee controlling him for the moment.
Raid avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Magee might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Magee thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Magee has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Magee controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Magee fails with a takedown attempt.

Magee is looking to clinch but Raid is avoiding it.

Magee has Raid up against the cage in a clinch.
Magee is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Raid gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Magee has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Raid is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Magee drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Magee breaks from the clinch.
Raid jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Raid misses with a straight left.
Raid throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Magee ducks under a wild hook from Raid.
Raid might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Raid gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Raid looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Magee makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Magee is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Magee drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Magee jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Raid really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Magee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Raid is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Raid tries to reverse the position but Magee maintains control.
Raid tries to lock up and control but Magee gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Magee lands a big shot there that rocks Raid but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Raid is desperately trying to improve his position but Magee has a good base and remains in mount.
Magee throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Raid because Magee loaded up on that one.

Magee looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Raid keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Magee looking to control but Raid is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Magee lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Magee is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Raid has managed to escape the submission attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Magee prevents Raid from getting the reversal.
Magee postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Raid looks a forlorn figure.

Magee jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Raid is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Raid and Magee has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Magee is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Raid is trying to escape and Magee transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Raid is forced to tap! Nice work there by Magee! Very nice indeed!
