The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mendez misses with a few strikes there.
Mendez throws a series of punches but Silva avoids them all with ease.
Eddie Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Silva drops Mendez with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Mendez looks back up at him and smiles so Silva waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

It looks like Eddie Mendez has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Mendez circles away.
Mendez bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Silva comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Mendez falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Mendez was out before he hit the floor!
