PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marillo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and dagger sumugat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). sumugat comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Whole Lotto Love kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
sumugat throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A left and a right from sumugat both land. Nice combination.
sumugat fails to land with a series of punches.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

No joy there for sumugat, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
sumugat throws a right hand that Gracie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gracie also avoids with ease.

Gracie shoots in but sumugat avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has sumugat pinned against the cage. sumugat gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Gracie jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as sumugat walks away with a smile on his face. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Gracie shoots in but sumugat avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but sumugat sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

sumugat seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Gracie is pulling down on sumugat's head. It's preventing any offense from sumugat, at least for the moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Gracie's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
I really don't envy sumugat right now.

Gracie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Gracie seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down sumugat for as long as he can get away with.
Gracie's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
