PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Bach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jose Aldo has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jose Aldo seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Bach!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo thows a body shot but no joy.
Bach closes the distance and clinches up with Aldo, looking for a takedown. Bach pushes Aldo against the cage but Aldo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Aldo lands with a cross.
Aldo leaves Bach with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bach looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Bach tries to move into range but Aldo moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Aldo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Aldo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Bach is looking to clinch.
A punch lands to the side of Bach 's head but he takes it in his stride.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bach walks into a left hand.
Aldo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


Bach is rocked!
Bach tries to clinch but Aldo is having none of it.
Bach checks a leg kick.
Bach shoots in for a takedown but Aldo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jose Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Bach.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bach is defended easily by Aldo.
Aldo throws a series of strikes that have Bach backpedaling.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bach is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Aldo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bach.
Aldo is concentrating on defense, preventing Bach from advancing position.

Aldo wants to get back to full guard.
Aldo flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Bach not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Bach moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Aldo defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bach.
Bach closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Bach shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Aldo but Aldo pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bach shoots for a double leg takedown but Aldo sprawls well. He's pushed Bach's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bach looks gassed!
Aldo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bach looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Bach shoots for a takedown but Aldo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bach takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Aldo thumps Bach with a low kick.
Aldo comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Aldo scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Aldo lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Aldo changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Aldo ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Jose Aldo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Aldo dips to his left and cracks Bach with an uppercut!
Aldo scores with a shot to the body.
Bach takes a shot to the body in his stride.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Aldo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Aldo connects with a solid leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bach takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Aldo lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Bach backs up against the cage.

Bach has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bach there as he acknowledges the shot.

Aldo drops Bach with a beautiful combination! Bach stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Aldo is looking for the KO!

Bach doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Aldo scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bach doesn't seem bothered though.

Aldo comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Aldo buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Aldo lands with an overhand left.
John Bach is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Aldo clobbers Bach with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Aldo swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Bach.
Bach shoots in looking for a takedown. Aldo tries to sprawl out of it but Bach keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Aldo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Aldo ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Aldo lands a nice shot to the body.
Bach takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Aldo lands a nice shot that snaps Bach's head back.
Aldo works over Bach's head and body with a nice combination.

Bach takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Aldo stuns Bach with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Aldo looks to land a combination. Bach sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Aldo paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Bach feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Aldo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Bach is working to get back to half guard.
Bach is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Aldo is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

And that's the end of the fight!
Jose Aldo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Aldo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
