PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dutch Kincaid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dutch Kincaid was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dutch Kincaid!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kincaid lands a nice leg kick that just misses Smith's sensitive parts.
Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kincaid's waist but Kincaid gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.

Kincaid moves into range and clinches up with Smith.
Smith is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kincaid pulls him back up using the underhooks.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kincaid lands a body punch.
Kincaid is pressed up against the cage. Smith has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kincaid down to the mat. Kincaid avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Nice body kick there by Kincaid.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.

Smith shoots in but Kincaid avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kincaid throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.

Kincaid shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Smith manages to get to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smith is on top in guard.

Kincaid wants to stand but Smith is controlling the position.

Smith stays in close to Kincaid's body and controls the position.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Kincaid is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kincaid manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Kincaid's guard.

Kincaid wants to stand and escape but Smith is having none of it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kincaid clinches.
Kincaid gets underhooks to prevent Smith's takedown attempt.
Kincaid lands an elbow inside that Smith shrugs off.
Kincaid misses with a knee strike.
Kincaid taking a breather.
Kincaid misses with a knee to the head.
Kincaid using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Kincaid lands a nice elbow.
Kincaid tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Kincaid leaning against his opponent.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Kincaid just misses with a elbow thrown towards Smith's brow.
Kincaid is trying to maintain a safe position but Smith gets an underhook and turns Kincaid into the cage.
Kincaid misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Smith.
Kincaid lands a damaging elbow.
Smith takes a knee right on the jaw!
Smith on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Smith is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kincaid is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Smith to the mat. Smith regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kincaid doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kincaid manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kincaid really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smith is on top in guard.
Kincaid working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Smith.

Smith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Kincaid is keeping the position.
Kincaid can't keep his opponent in guard - Smith advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Smith is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dutch Kincaid dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A combination from Kincaid does no damage.
Kincaid tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith with a poor takedown
and Kincaid counters with a straight right hand.
Kincaid's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Kincaid duly obliges.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Smith crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kincaid - the referee stops the clock and Smith gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kincaid. Smith manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Smith gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kincaid cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kincaid is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith takes an elbow to the forehead.
Smith takes an elbow to the temple.
Kincaid gets through Smith's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kincaid has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Smith regains guard immediately.
Smith trying to keep a closed guard but Kincaid is proving a slippery customer.

Kincaid is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Smith has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Kincaid is looking to defend but Smith has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Kincaid! Smith pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Kincaid taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). John Smith!
