PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Warren Westside (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Wren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Westside comes into the arena with Queen - Another One Bites The Dust blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alan Wren!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Westside takes a jab right on the kisser.

Wren clinches.
Westside wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Wren prevents Westside from breaking the clinch.
Westside is trying to break the clinch but Wren is controlling him.

and Wren moves into the clinch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Westside.
Westside is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Westside lands with a short shot to the head.

Wren's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Westside.
Wren throws a hook to the side of Westside's head but Westside sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Wren throws a combination. Westside tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Wren tries to bum rush Westside with a series of wild strikes but Westside uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Wren cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Wren darts in and clinches Westside up against the cage.

Westside drops down looking for an ankle pick but Wren pulls his leg out and moves away.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Wren creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Westside has Wren pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Wren manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wren is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Westside defends well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wren is trying to control the position but Westside postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Wren will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Westside is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Westside shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Wren counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Westside moves forwards but Wren connects with a nice, crisp jab.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Wren is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Westside defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Westside is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Wren.

Well Wren has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
