PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between DeShaun Williamson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and AC Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williamson comes to the ring accompanied by http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZ5QLXTUTRA. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, DeShaun Williamson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, AC Slater!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williamson closes the distance and clinches up with Slater, looking for a takedown. Williamson pushes Slater against the ropes but Slater circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Slater drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Williamson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Slater is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Williamson wants to control but Slater passes easily into half guard.
Slater stalling.
Williamson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Williamson wants to get back to full guard.
Williamson is working hard here to advance position.
Slater slows the pace down in half guard.
I looks like Slater might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Williamson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Slater is working away from the top position though.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Let's hope that Slater has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Despite being in the dominant position, AC Slater just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Williamson seems a little lost for a moment, as Slater dominates the positioning.
Williamson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Williamson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Slater connects with a decent elbow.

Williamson is letting Slater control him for a moment.
Williamson tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Williamson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Slater looking to control and managing it successfully.
Williamson is looking to improve his position but Slater isn't that keen on the idea.
Slater takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AC Slater dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Williamson fails with the takedown

and Slater counters with a shoot takedown. Williamson fights it but they end up in guard.

Williamson is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Slater jumps into side control!

Slater takes a little break here. Williamson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Williamson can't keep his opponent in guard - Slater advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Slater looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Williamson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Slater swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Williamson doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Slater counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Slater passes Williamson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AC Slater showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Slater bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Well, if Slater is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Slater slips a nice elbow through Williamson's hands, connecting with Williamson's forehead.
Williamson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Slater on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Slater seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Williamson tries to get to full guard but Slater has control of the leg.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Slater lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Slater cracks Williamson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Slater takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

AC Slater comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Slater has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
