Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nuno Sousa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robin Barry!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sousa fails to land the takedown.
Barry tries to clinch but Sousa is having none of it.
Sousa pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Barry doesn't manage to clinch there - Sousa circles away.
Sousa throws a leg kick but Barry sees it coming and moves out of range.
Sousa misses with an uppercut. Barry saw that one coming.
Barry wants to clinch.

Barry closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Sousa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Barry avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sousa is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barry gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Robin Barry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Barry postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Sousa to stand up.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Barry. Sousa shrugs it off though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Barry's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Sousa wants to get back to his feet but Barry passes into half guard.
Barry trying to mount his opponent but Sousa defends it.
Sousa is looking for a sweep. Barry is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Barry throwing shots but Sousa is blocking nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robin Barry showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Barry wants to clinch.

Sousa moves into range and clinches up with Barry.

Barry pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Sousa has Barry up against the cage in a clinch.
Barry tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Sousa tries for a takedown but Barry manages to get underhooks.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Sousa obliges.

Barry escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Barry throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sousa was covering up waiting for the punch and Barry finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Barry throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Barry lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Sousa is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Barry gets his way!
