PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pele Ramos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Matt Tyson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pele Ramos!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tyson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Ramos!

Ramos keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Ramos regains half guard.
Ramos trying to control but Tyson postures up.
Tyson is stalling here. Ramos is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Tyson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Ramos has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Tyson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ramos asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Tyson holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Ramos tries to move into full mount but can't pass Tyson's legs.
Ramos in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Tyson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tyson tries to get out of the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ramos lands with a shot to the body.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ramos tries to clinch there but Tyson circles away.

Ramos is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Tyson jumps into side control!

Ramos wants to control but Tyson postures up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Ramos throws a series of punches but Tyson moves out of range.
Ramos tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tyson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Tyson feints and as Ramos raises his hands in defense, Tyson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ramos wants to sweep but no luck.
Tyson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Tyson trying to control the position from guard on top but Ramos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ramos uses the cage to get back to his feet.

A head kick misses from Ramos.

Tyson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tyson lands in his opponent's guard.
Tyson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ramos on the ground.
Ramos wants to stand up but Tyson is controlling him.
Ramos is trying to keep Tyson in close.
Tyson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ramos wants to stand up but Tyson is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ramos fails with the takedown

and Tyson counters with a single leg into guard. Ramos didn't expect that.
Ramos is pulling down on Tyson's head to control his posture.

Ramos is trying to control the position but Tyson postures up.
Ramos wants to get back to his feet but Tyson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Tyson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ramos swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Tyson.

and Tyson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ramos won't be happy with that.

Ramos is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Tyson has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Matt Tyson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Tyson tries to move to mount but Ramos blocks the move with his legs.
Ramos is looking for a sweep.
Tyson slows the pace down.
Tyson is looking to take a break and control but Ramos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ramos prevents Tyson from improving position.

Ramos can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Tyson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ramos is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Tyson wants to pass the guard but Ramos is defending well.
Ramos makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ramos.

Ramos uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Ramos is breathing heavily.
Ramos misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Tyson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ramos did well to prevent Tyson getting side control.

Tyson is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Ramos reverses the position - he's now on top in Tyson's guard.
Ramos wants to control from the top but Tyson keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Tyson dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Ramos regains half guard there - taking advantage of Tyson's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Ramos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tyson is working away from the top position though.
Tyson blocks the strikes from Ramos.

Ramos pushes Tyson off and gets back to his feet.
Pele Ramos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Tyson counters with a takedown into side control.

Tyson with the ground and pound but Ramos regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Ramos gets full guard.
Ramos takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ramos looking for a sweep. Not yet Ramos, not yet.
Ramos thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Tyson wanted to stand there but Ramos had control of the position.
Tyson looking to sit in guard and control but Ramos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Tyson keeping moving, preventing Ramos from controlling successfully.
Tyson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ramos wants to pass the guard but Tyson is keeping the position.

Tyson wriggles free and stands up.
Ramos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Tyson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ramos has hold of Tyson's hands but Tyson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Ramos is staying active underneath Tyson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Matt Tyson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Ramos fails with the takedown

and Tyson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Matt Tyson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pele Ramos.
Tyson won't allow Ramos to get back to his feet.
Tyson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Tyson tries to free his leg and advance position but Ramos is retaining full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Matt Tyson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tyson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
