PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brenden Tully (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Pardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Tully might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Open Your Eyes. Pardo has chosen Don't Stop Believing as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brenden Tully ! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Pardo! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pardo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A nice combination there by Pardo.
Tully misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Pardo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pardo throws a series of punches but Tully moves out of range. Tully pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tully takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Pardo comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Tully is breathing heavily. Tully fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brenden Tully . That's going to take a lot out of him. Pardo jabs at Tully 's body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pardo tries to close the distance and clinch but Tully swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Pardo throws a combination. Tully tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Tully blocks the body kick.
Tully clinches up with Pardo and pushes him back against the cage. Pardo pushes Tully back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Tully is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Pardo is looking to break free of the clinch but Tully has double underhooks. Pardo wants to get back to striking at distance but Tully won't allow it.
Pardo manages to break the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tully showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Pardo.
Tully dodges the punch combination from Pardo.
Pardo misses with a wild body shot. Tully takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Pardo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pardo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tully . Tully tries to bum rush Pardo with a series of wild strikes but Pardo uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Pardo lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Pardo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Tully counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pardo won't be happy with that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tully is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pardo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Tully is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pardo has escaped the position, nice work there. Pardo wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tully has an Americana. Pardo didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Tully is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Tully hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Brenden Tully ! Brenden Tully retains his lightweight title!
