PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jet Cao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cao has chosen "All I Do Is Win" by DJ Khaled as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emelianenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jet Cao!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Ivan Kurochkin and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cao tries to avoid it but Emelianenko manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cao to the ground. Cao escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cao ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Emelianenko moves away.
Cao misses with a double jab.
Cao smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Emelianenko throws a jab when Cao was well out of range.
Cao works the jab nicely.

Emelianenko looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Emelianenko drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cao manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Emelianenko has Cao in his guard.
Emelianenko wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Cao drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Emelianenko dives on top into guard.

Cao lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Emelianenko circles away quickly and effectively.
Cao wants to slow Emelianenko down by chopping away at his legs.

Cao looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Emelianenko will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Emelianenko closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Emelianenko lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Emelianenko tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cao sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Emelianenko somewhat.

Cao dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Emelianenko. That did some damage!

Emelianenko closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fedor Emelianenko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Emelianenko throwing strikes but Cao manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Cao will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cao stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cao wants it to stay on the feet.

Emelianenko is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cao sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Cao lands with a slapping head kick.
Cao is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Emelianenko rather than just go for the knockout.

I would just about give that final round to Jet Cao.
I think Cao has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
