PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rich Conner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryoto Machita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machita has chosen Forsaker by Katatonia as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Dean Styles and Anthony Taglia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machita shoots in looking for a takedown. Conner tries to sprawl out of it but Machita keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Conner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Conner shoots and misses

and Machita decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Conner's guard.
Conner can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Machita controls the pace.

Machita can't escape the position.

Conner is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Machita to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Machita shrugs it off.
Machita manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Conner wants to work for an arm triangle but Machita is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Conner is breathing heavily.

Conner is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Machita has managed to free his arm - good work.

Conner throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Machita has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Conner is working away from the top position though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Conner is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Machita still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Machita has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Machita slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Conner wants to stand but Machita is controlling the position.

Conner had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Machita defends it easily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Machita really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Conner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
