Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Floyd Chappers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Persius Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Floyd Chappers has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Floyd Chappers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Persius Masters!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chappers fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Masters manages to avoid it.
Chappers lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Masters closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Masters working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Masters creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Chappers sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Chappers is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Masters is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Masters stands up and beckons Chappers to his feet.
Chappers throws a series of punches but Masters moves out of range.

Masters feints and as Chappers raises his hands in defense, Masters changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Chappers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Chappers wants to get back to his feet but Masters is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chappers pushes Masters off and gets back to his feet.
Masters avoids a punch combination nicely.

Chappers throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Masters.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Masters.
Masters working the head and body with strikes.
Chappers on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Masters in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Masters fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Chappers is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Masters has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Masters connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Chappers some visible discomfort.
Chappers is breathing heavily.
Masters scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Chappers to see if he's OK.

Chappers tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Chappers tries to break free but Masters pushes him back against the cage.

Masters escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Floyd Chappers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A left and a right from Chappers both land. Nice combination.
Chappers works over Masters's head and body with a nice combination.
Chappers misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Masters landing strikes.
Masters tries to advance to mount but can't.
Chappers tries to escape but Masters is in control.

Masters is working Chappers over with some ground and pound from side control.
Chappers is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Masters has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Masters in side control lands a decent elbow.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Masters throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chappers's waist but Chappers gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Masters off to one side.
Masters ducks right into an uppercut from Chappers.
Chappers swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chappers fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Masters fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Chappers sprawls well initially but Masters persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Masters takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Chappers wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Persius Masters dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Masters tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Masters will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Masters takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Chappers pushes Masters off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Chappers lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Masters is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chappers has escaped the position, nice work there.
Masters wants to control but Chappers is keeping him busy.

Masters in side control, throwing shots but Chappers defends.
Masters with the ground and pound but Chappers regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Persius Masters has got the better of the ground game so far.

Masters looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Chappers works Masters's body with a nice hook.
Persius Masters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chappers connects with a jab.
Chappers looks to score with a jab to the body but Masters is just out of range.

Masters has closed the distance and engaged Chappers in a clinch.
Masters is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Chappers can't get the takedown.
Masters has Chappers pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Chappers manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Floyd Chappers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Persius Masters.
Chappers wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Masters has him pressed against the cage.

Masters gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Chappers regains guard.

Masters throws a strike but Chappers rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Masters is working an open guard so Chappers takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Masters throws a right and a left that both miss.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Masters takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Good standup being displayed there by Chappers as he connects with a hook.
Chappers takes a swing at Masters's ribcage but misses.

Masters rushes Chappers and presses him up against the cage.
Chappers wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Masters has him pressed against the cage.

Masters gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Chappers regains guard.
Masters throwing strikes from guard but Chappers blocks nicely.
Chappers keeping moving, preventing Masters from controlling successfully.

Masters wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Chappers's closed guard. He's half up but Chappers has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Chappers pivots and extends the arm, Masters falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Chappers! Well done that man!
