The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.
Smith tries to bum rush Silva with a series of wild strikes but Silva uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Silva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Silva manages to avoid it.
Silva shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Silva keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mc theus Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith lands a high kick!

It looks like Mc theus Silva has been cut.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith fails to land with a series of punches.
Silva uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Smith.

Silva looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Smith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Silva.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A head kick misses from Smith.

Smith lands a big head kick that sends Silva tumbling to the mat! Smith takes a step backwards and waves Silva back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Smith lands an uppercut, right on the button! Silva tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
