The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Queen misses.
Queen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Zangief throws a nice looking combination but Queen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Zangief misses with a two punch combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zangief rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Queen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Queen swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Queen counters with a one-two to the body.

Queen throws a series of punches but Zangief moves out of range.
Zangief with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Queen to score with a decent uppercut.

Queen is looking to clinch but Zangief is avoiding it.

Queen lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Zangief at a distance.

The fight stays on the outside here - Queen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
John Queen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Queen scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Queen lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Zangief backwards.

Queen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Zangief misses with a jab, cross combination.
Zangief uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Queen.

and Queen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Queen throws a hook to the side of Zangief's head but Zangief sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
John Queen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Queen gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Zangief is trying to force a seperation but Queen has the dominant position.
Queen lands with a short shot to the head.
Queen has a couple of punches blocked by Zangief.

Queen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Queen doesn't manage to clinch there - Zangief circles away.
Queen swings for the body but Zangief moves out of range.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Queen tries to clinch up but Zangief circles away and keeps his distance.

No joy there for Queen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

It looks like John Queen has been cut.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Queen tries to clinch up but Zangief circles away and keeps his distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Queen.
Well Queen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
