PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between G Kar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kar comes to the cage accompanied by Babylon 5. Mir comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Spoilin For A Fight kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kar swats away the attempt to clinch by Mir.
Kar thows a body shot but no joy.
Mir pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kar is out of range and Mir settles back down.
Nice cross by Kar.

It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.
Mir dives in and grabs Kar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kar pushes down on Mir's head and hops out.
Mir closes the distance and clinches up with Kar, looking for a takedown. Mir pushes Kar against the cage but Kar circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A punch lands to the side of Mir 's head but he takes it in his stride.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A jab lands there for Mir.
Kar misses with a double jab.

Mir shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kar's guard.

Mir trying to control the position from guard on top but Kar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mir is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kar is on top in guard.

Mir is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kar content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Mir has his foot on Kar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kar works his way back into a safe position though.

Kar postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Mir looks gassed!
Kar wants to control from the top but Mir keeps moving.
Kar trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Mir has momentary wrist control but Kar slips an elbow through the middle.

Mir looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kar advances to half guard.
Kar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mir does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Kar trying to pass the guard but Mir defending well.
Kar is looking to take a break and control but Mir is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mir is trying to maintain the position but Kar is very close to passing his half guard.

Kar is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mir defends it well.
Kar prevents Mir from improving his position.
Kar works his foot free and advances to mount.

Mir can't escape the position.
Kar trying to control but Mir is having none of it.
Mir wants to hold on but Kar pushes him away.
Kar prevents Mir from getting the reversal.
Kar controlling the pace for now.
Kar working the ground and pound effectively.

The cut above Frank Mir's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Frank Mir's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
