Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bj Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bruno Hainz!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Steve Montenegro and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hainz missing with a left hand there. Alves was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Alves looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Alves connects with a body shot.
Hainz fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hainz throws a lazy right hand but Alves sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hainz shoots in for a takedown but Alves shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hainz fails with a takedown attempt.

Hainz decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hainz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Hainz is working for a kimura but Alves is defending it quite comfortably.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Hainz seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Alves is looking to escape.
Hainz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alves does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alves pushes Hainz off looking to stand but Hainz dives back in and keeps control.
Alves is not content to let Hainz control the position.
Hainz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hainz not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hainz throws a hook but Alves blocks it.
Alves slips under a jab.
Hainz shoots in but Alves avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bj Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruno Hainz.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hainz.
Alves wants to get back to his feet but Hainz drags him back down.
Alves tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Alves is trying to defend against the choke here but Hainz has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Hainz Tightens the hold and Alves taps out furiously! Hainz displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bruno Hainz!
