Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Dabest (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Kung Fu Fighting. Bruce Gracie could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ian Dabest's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bruce Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ian Dabest! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Bruce Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gracie scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gracie content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dabest is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Gracie tries to advance to mount but Dabest denies him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dabest has escaped the position, nice work there. Dabest tries to improve position but can't. Gracie is looking to take a break and control but Dabest is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gracie just content to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dabest for as long as he can get away with. Dabest looks to move to half guard but instead Gracie has passed into mount! Damn! Gracie moves to take his opponent's back. Dabest looks gassed! Gracie is looking to control Dabest but Dabest is wriggling around and keeping busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dabest wants to escape the position.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Gracie lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Gracie.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. Dabest is keeping busy.

Gracie controls the position. Dabest is trying to break free.
Gracie throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Dabest is keeping busy.
Gracie looking for the choke from the back. Gracie is looking to control Dabest but Dabest is wriggling around and keeping busy.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Bruce Gracie just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Gracie fails with the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dabest pushes Gracie up against the cage in a clinch. Dabest jumps guard and drags Gracie to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Dabest wants to sweep but no luck. Gracie advances position into side control! Dabest tries to improve position but can't. Dabest is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Dabest is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Gracie has just dragged him back down to the mat. Dabest is not content to let Gracie control the position. Dabest is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Gracie is controlling him well.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Dabest feints and as Gracie raises his hands in defense, Dabest changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Dabest trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom. Dabest pushing down on Gracie's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. It looks like Dabest is going to stand back up.
Gracie is pressing down on Dabest's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Dabest preventing the sweep. Dabest is looking to stand up but Gracie won't let him. Dabest stands and throws Gracie's legs to the side, diving into side control. Gracie is looking for a sweep. Dabest wants to stand but Gracie has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard. Gracie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bruce Gracie dominated that round. That's time! Gracie's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown and Dabest counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Gracie wants to sweep here but Dabest controlling him for the moment. Bruce Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Dabest pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now. Dabest won't allow Gracie to sweep him here. Dabest controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Gracie manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Gracie moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Dabest has worked his arm free - good work by Dabest!
Dabest gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Dabest is breathing heavily. Gracie controlling from the full mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie lands with some strikes. Gracie controlling the position easily from mount. Gracie is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Dabest is surviving well by controlling Gracie's body position as best he can. Dabest wants to hold on but Gracie pushes him away. Gracie is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Dabest can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Gracie looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Dabest wants to control but Gracie is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie controlling from mount. Dabest is squirming around, avoiding Gracie's attempts to control the action. Gracie raining down shots from the mount! Dabest is squirming around, avoiding Gracie's attempts to control the action. Dabest reaches up to try and control the position but Gracie seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Dabest rolls and tries to escape and now Gracie has his back!
Gracie trying to control. Gracie is really struggling to control Dabest but he's trying to hold on to the position. Dabest is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Gracie off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Gracie is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie has his arm under Dabest's chin here. Game over son! Gracie squeezes tightly and Dabest is forced to tap out!
