The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Red Velouer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Velouer throws a looping overhand right but Dowd ducks down to avoid it.

Dowd lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Velouer stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Dowd.
Velouer takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Dowd scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Dowd moves into range and clinches up with Velouer.

Dowd has clasped his hands together around Velouer's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Velouer is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Dowd has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Dowd has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Velouer is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Dowd yanks on the arm and Velouer is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Dowd.
