Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jericho Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vack Wards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wards has chosen The Beast And The Harlot as his entrance music. The key to victory for Jericho Johnson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wards circles away.
Johnson fails with the takedown.

Wards closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Wards cracks Johnson with a big right hand but Johnson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Wards wants to control but Johnson is keeping him busy.
Johnson tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Wards presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Wards controlling the position easily from mount.
Wards really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Johnson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Wards should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Wards wants to control the pace but Johnson is squirming around nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wards looking to control but Johnson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Wards might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Johnson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Johnson tries to reverse the position but Wards maintains control.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Wards can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Despite being in the dominant position, Vack Wards just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Johnson wants to clinch up but Wards keeps it at a distance.

Wards drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wards not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Wards has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.
Wards wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.

Johnson is looking for a triangle here but Wards uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Wards staying calm.
Johnson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Wards's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

and Wards counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Johnson wants to sweep here but Wards controlling him for the moment.
Johnson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Wards is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wards manages to get himself to full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Johnson closes the distance but Wards moves to the side

and Wards counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Johnson's guard now.

Johnson is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Wards frees his head nicely. Oh but Johnson has switched to an armbar! Wards is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
