PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Kochanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Valentin Romanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kochanov's entrance music is "Mein Teil" - Rammstein. A fine choice. Valentin Romanov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Kochanov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Valentin Romanov!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Romanov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kochanov tries to get to full guard but Romanov has control of the leg.

Romanov is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Romanov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kochanov pinned against the cage. Kochanov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Romanov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Romanov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kochanov is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Romanov's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
