PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dmitry Vdovin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vdovin comes to the cage accompanied by DJ Khaled. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dmitry Vdovin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonathan Kane!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Kane as Vdovin shoots in.
Kane with a lazy takedown attempt

and Vdovin counters by moving into the clinch.
Kane tries for a takedown but Vdovin manages to get underhooks.

Vdovin has hold of one of Kane's legs. Kane is fighting the takedown attempt but Vdovin gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Vdovin wants to control from the top but Kane keeps moving.
Kane has Vdovin pulled in close to control his posture.
Vdovin missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Vdovin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Vdovin throws a strike but Kane rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Vdovin is pulling down on Kane's head. It's preventing any offense from Kane, at least for the moment.

Vdovin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kane in particular looking to stall.

Kane is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vdovin defends it well.
Vdovin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Vdovin misses with some strikes from the bottom.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Vdovin is refusing to be controlled, as Kane sits in half guard.

Kane might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Vdovin kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Vdovin is looking for a sweep. Kane is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Vdovin is staying active underneath Kane, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Kane works his way into full mount!

Kane working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Kane can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Vdovin is looking to escape.

Kane working for a guillotine from mount but Vdovin is in no mood to give up.
Kane tries to control but Vdovin wriggling away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vdovin is trying desperately to improve position.

Kane is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Vdovin has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Kane jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Vdovin is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Vdovin and Kane has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Kane works to advance to full mount. Vdovin defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Kane trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kane can't control as he wanted to and Vdovin manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
Vdovin manages to get to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vdovin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Kane decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vdovin's guard.
Vdovin wants to sweep here but Kane controlling him for the moment.
Jonathan Kane has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kane forces his way into half guard.

Kane is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Kane is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kane passes to side control.
Vdovin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Vdovin tries to get out of the position.

Vdovin can't keep his opponent in guard - Kane advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Kane tries to pass the half guard into mount. Vdovin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Kane uses his free foot to push down on Vdovin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Vdovin.
Kane blocks Vdovin's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Vdovin sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Vdovin wants to improve his position but Kane is controlling well.
Vdovin lands a couple of sideways elbows.

Vdovin tries to get to full guard but Kane has control of the leg.
Kane works his foot free and advances to mount.
Kane lands a big shot there that rocks Vdovin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Vdovin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Vdovin tries to lock up and control but Kane gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Vdovin tries to close the distance and clinch but Kane swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Kane drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kane jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Vdovin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Kane shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kane was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kane has control of Vdovin's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Vdovin regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Vdovin wants to control but Kane is having none of it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kane takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Dmitry Vdovin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

I've got Kane winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
