PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Juan Carro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Taker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Juan Carro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Taker!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Dean Styles and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carro uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Taker has time to react.
Taker does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Carro cracks Taker with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Taker misses the shot to the body.
No luck for Taker with that takedown attempt.
Carro keeps the fight on the outside.
Carro blocks a head kick by Taker.
Taker tries to clinch but Carro moves out of range.
Taker misses with a leg kick.

Carro shoots in and bounces Taker off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Carro stops Taker from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Taker manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Carro is pushing down on Taker's leg trying to pass to half guard. Taker is fighting to maintain full guard but Carro has managed to sneak the leg through.

Taker is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Carro pulls his head out easily.

Carro drops back looking for a leg! Taker is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Taker manages to kick Carro off! Carro jumps back into Taker's guard.

Taker tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Taker preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Carro trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Taker has momentary wrist control but Carro slips an elbow through the middle.
Carro thows a big elbow that misses.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Carro moves into the clinch.
Carro lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Taker backwards.
Carro tries to break the clinch but Taker is controlling the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Taker tries for a takedown but Carro circles away easily
and Carro counters with a stiff right hand.
Taker throws a chopping leg kick but Carro manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Carro is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Carro misses with a punch on the inside.

Taker goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Carro tries to break the clinch but Taker is controlling the position.

Taker's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Carro escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Taker misses with a double jab
and Carro counters with a nice low kick that buckles Taker's knee momentarily.
Carro avoids the head kick by Taker.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Carro dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Carro throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Taker on the side of the head.

Taker motions for Carro to come forward. Taker throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Carro wants to work for an arm triangle but Taker is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Carro thows a huge punch but Taker dodges it nicely.
Carro frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Carro looking to ground and pound but Taker is blocking nicely.

Carro looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Carro is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Taker can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Taker is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Taker tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Taker is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Carro is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Carro with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Taker is looking to improve his position but Carro isn't that keen on the idea.

Taker really wants to buck Carro off and get back to his feet.
BOOM! Carro connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Carro swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Taker is now in Carro's guard. A big mistake from Carro there, giving up the dominant position!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Taker takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Well Carro has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
