Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Banner!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Drake!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drake misses the shot to the body.
Drake fails in his attempt to clinch.
Drake scores with a one two! Banner had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Drake thows a body shot but no joy.
Jab by Banner.
Banner takes a swing at Drake's ribcage but misses.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Drake pulls guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Drake looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Banner wants to stand and escape but instead Drake has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Drake loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Drake postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Drake trying to control but Banner is working from the bottom.
Drake not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Banner tries to break free but Drake pushes him back against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Drake creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Banner's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Drake counters with a nice double leg into side control. Banner won't be happy with that.

Drake throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Drake goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Banner rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Drake's guard! Nice work there by Banner!
Banner wants to get up but he can't break Drake's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Banner decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Drake, up you get!

Banner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Drake moves away.

Drake looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Banner is fending him off so far but Drake persists. Nope, Banner circles away and we're back to standing.

Robert Drake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Banner lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Drake dives in and grabs Banner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Banner pushes down on Drake's head and hops out.
No joy there for Banner, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Drake seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Banner shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Drake is backing up but Banner catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Drake covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Banner Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 5, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robert Banner!
